A little about me...
Hello! My names Aiden, I'm founder and head coach at AJC Coaching. My philosophy is centred around helping everyday people achieve their peak fitness through Hybrid Training. With over a decades worth of experience I know at AJC Coaching we can help you reach your goals.
I've participated in many sports at a high standard during my life including football, tennis, athletics and gym. Previously representing West Yorkshire in athletics.
My Hybrid Athlete journey began in 2023 after a period of struggling with mental health and weight gain. Starting at 120kg bodyweight and powered through tough sessions as a heavy runner. Inspired by Fergus Crawley and Nick Bare I began my Hybrid Athlete journey; striving to become the best version of myself through running and strength training.
Over a year later I have completed a marathon, several half-marathons, HYROX and racked up almost 2000km of running, all whilst continuing to improve my strength within the gym.
Hybrid Training changed my life. Let's change yours.
What is Hybrid Training?
The phrase 'Hybrid Athlete' was coined by Alex Viada as “The concurrent training of different athletic disciplines that do not explicitly support one another, and whose disparate components are not essential to success at any one sport”. An example of Hybrid Training would be a programme that includes strength training and running; with an aim to progress these concurrently. Hybrid Athletes will often test their body to it's limits training for endurance and ultra-endurance events whilst building their strength along side.
Hybrid Training is not to be confused with HYROX - there is growing confusion within the fitness industry on this matter. HYROX training is amazing but training for HYROX alone is not Hybrid Training; if you were to couple HYROX alongside cycling, running or strength training without the two aiding each other, this would be Hybrid Training.
